How can getting debt relief be good for you?

There is an escalating trend in America and here is Houston in the amount of unsecured credit card debt we are carrying.  Did you know that financial stress is the cause to many treatable dieses here in America?  Not only would reducing your credit card debt lower your stress levels but it could help you live a longer and healthier life.   So to answer your question about how can getting debt relief be good for you I will ask how is getting debt help not good for you?  I know that many people get into debt and feel like it is just a part of life and think that there is no escaping it, but I am here to tell you from experience that sometimes when you have been in debt for so long you don’t always recognize the stress you feel you become used to it, but once you get out you will have a feeling you have never felt before.  You will have the time and patience to deal with your work, time available for your family, and a new bounce in your step.

There are many types of debt relief you can get out there for your debt and you should explore them all.  I went through a debt settlement program and it was the best thing I could have done.  I was able to get my debt settled for less than half of what I currently owe and I was able to get help in reestablishing my credit after.  The whole process from signing up and reestablishing my credit took about 4 year’s total.  So that was a much better decision for me then to continue paying on my credit cards and the interest for the next 15 years and having the stress that goes along with it.  It seemed to me that if I was going to pay fees to the creditors in the form of interest, which by the way I had paid over twice the amount I originally borrowed, then I would rather pay the fees to a company to help me get out of my debt for less than what I currently owe.  It was a complete no brainer for me when it came down to making a decision.

So you need to ask yourself these questions to see how debt relief will be good for you: Can I establish new debt with any creditors?  If not what is their response to me?  What do I want to use my credit for in the next 3-4 years?  If I don’t get rid of my debt will I be able to do that anyway?  How much am I going to pay if I decide to keep making monthly payments?  How long will it take to get out of debt?  If you go through and find a debt calculator online you can see that you will pay 2 – 3 times the amount you originally borrowed back because of interest rates and it can take you anywhere from 10 – 15 years to be completely debt free.
